October Update

Thinking back on September, it was an interesting month when we were asking where God was leading us. Steve works in the Information Systems Department (ISD), but had three different departments asking him to consider teaching for them.

First, in talking with the Community Development Department, he was asked to consider some Bible courses and to help with the training of the communities in electricity and computers as they need basic electricity courses to help with the maintenance of the water systems and also in their homes and the communities are starting to get computers and connections to the Internet.
Secondly, he was asked to consider teaching some of the "semi-presencial" Bible courses for the Academia Cristiana del Aire which would entail teaching a three hour course once a week per class.
And thirdly, he was asked to consider teaching English to the students in the Centro Cristiana de Comunicaciones (CCC) as one of the English teachers wasn't continuing with their course.
Well, as it turns out, Steve will be teaching a course on the doctrines of the Holy Spirit and the Church each Monday from 9am till noon and another session from 6pm until 9pm. Please pray for these classes and for Steve's teaching each Monday. These courses are directed toward pastors and leaders of the churches.

On October 16-17, Steve will also be going with the Community Development Department to help out with electrical training for men from seven different communities. Please pray that these courses will open the doors to more training and specifically toward Bible training in these communities.

Pauli has started up a Sunday School class for 3-6 year olds as there has been a gap in this age group for a while in the church. Please pray that the little ones will hear God in Pauli's teaching in a way that they can understand.
Pauli also got involved in a weekly ladies' Bible study following God's story through the Bible from Genesis through the life of Jesus and has had several opportunities to talk to the maid about God and the Gospel. Please pray for Pauli's testimony to these ladies whom she is getting to know in various situations.

HCJB Global here in Quito has teamed up with the International Bible Society to put on a "Maratón Biblica" (Bible Marathon) which will get people from all over Ecuador to each transcribe one verse of the Bible over this next year to get a complete copy of the Bible. The plans are to give one copy of this to the Ecuadorian President and another to the Congress.
The hospital here also had the privilege to send doctors and help to the earthquake zone in Peru to meet the people's physical and spiritual needs in the time of crisis.

Kendra had her fourth birthday and Keilah is enjoying school and piano lessons. They both keep wondering when Daddy will finish up the renovation of the back patio and enjoy working out there with him. They both have started up AWANA (a Bible club for kids) and enjoy going each Wednesday afternoon.

Kyle is now crawling and is learning all the new things he can as he gets into all sorts of new stuff. He also enjoys walking as he holds onto others' hands to help support him.
